How to Check Your IRS Refund Status

Checking your IRS refund status is very easy to do if you’ve already filed your Federal Taxes. Your IRS refund status can be tracked right from the IRS website. Here’s how to get your IRS refund status.

1. Step 1

   

   Visit the IRS official website – irs.gov – and click on “Check on Your Refund” near the lower left side of the screen. Immediately following that, click on “Where’s My Refund” in the center top portion of the screen on the next page. After this, you will be prompted to enter some basic information from your Federal Tax Form.

2. Step 2

   

   Enter the information as the boxes on the page designate. This should include your Name, SS number, Tax Filing Status, and the EXACT amount of your refund that is shown on your Federal Tax Form.

3. Step 3

   

   Read the next page which will tell you your IRS refund status, and if it is far enough along – when you can expect to recieve your Federal Tax Refund. If you chose direct deposit, it will even tell you when your Tax Refund money will be deopsited.

4. Step 4

   Check back in a week or so if the IRS refund status page doesn’t give you any information. Sometimes the system needs to have a little time to update with current information.
